Things I learned This Year in Pre-School →
There are the simple lessons we learn from children that put a smile on your face.
My Day in a Nutshell
4 year old: Miss Kari? Um, well, I'm pooping my pants right now.
Me: What?
4 year old: Pick me up and run me to the bathroom! Hurryyyyyyy!
(in the bathroom)
4 year old: I need new underwear.
4 year old: Come wipe me.
Me: What?! You can't do that yourself?!
4 year old: Nope
Me: What do you do at preschool?
4 year old: I'm not allowed to poop there.
Me: Okay, how about in the future you tell me you need to poop BEFORE you actually start pooping. Can we try that?
4 year old: (sigh) Okay. And Miss Kari? Don't sit on that chair. I peed on it yesterday.
They're still kids...
This school looks like a prison and unfortunately is labeled as such. Each student has a reason why they were at this school, mainly expulsion and court-appointed. Sometimes, if you let a teenager be a teenager, you will get a funny game of basketball going on.
On this nice day, we extended PE to 45 minutes (they usually have 30 minutes) because of their good behavior.

Behavior Chart.
This student has a number of behavior challenges and when I previous subbed in this class, his 4 foot frame managed to throw a desk across the room, unscrew the bolts in a desk and take it apart with his bare hands, throw tantrums, and assault another student.
On this day of subbing, his IEP plan called for creating this behavior chart and rewarding him at the completion of each task. According...
